A new and advanced EQ-Radio method of emotion detection was developed by MIT researchers. It employs radio signals, which when reflected off a person, analyzes the breathing pattern and heart rate of that particular person. Physiological changes in breathing and heart rate are the chief indicators of fear, anger, happiness, sadness and other emotions. The physiological parameters can be recorded in a remote device and can be further analysed by values into a standardisedmachine learning algorithm. The results obtained from the calculations ca help in predicting the emotion of the person.
The EQ-radio employs the frequency modulated carrier wave predator technique, which is equipped for high precision human body tracking. It can even track the vibrations in the chest muscles as a results of breathing. It can thus differentiate changes in pattern of breathing.

Depression is a major psychological problem which affects more than 50% of the population. In some cases it has more severe consequences than others. In such cases, having an instrument, which can remotely assess the mood and emotion of the patient and can help in making a clinical assessment of the condition is highly advantageous.
